For viewers

Your administrator provides your account and server address, and decides which features are available. An account age limit can hide titles from browse, search, and recommendations; see Parental controls & age ratings.

Browse → Library · A–Z searches within your selected library and filters. Global search covers all configured libraries and services. Include descriptions broadens search beyond titles and people; a + after a result count means more results can be loaded.

Browse URLs preserve your search, filters, sort, and layout, so you can bookmark a view.

Series posters in Library · A–Z count your unwatched playable episodes, including specials. A checkmark means you’ve watched every currently available episode. Series cards and details show season and episode counts when known; details distinguish the total from episodes available to play and show your watch progress.

Resuming a series follows its saved watch marker, including progress from other devices. If that takes you somewhere unexpected, a notice names the device and offers to jump back. Finished series offer the next season or a rewatch.

Watching a title to the end removes it from Continue Watching, even if an older partial position remains from a sync. Next Up moves past completed episodes. Starting a rewatch brings the title back once you have new playback progress.

Restore dismissed titles on Hidden from Continue Watching at /my/hidden.

Ratings and watch history shape For You. Dismiss a “Because you watched” row if its seed title isn’t useful. Selecting multiple moods matches all of them; clearing the selection returns to automatic recommendations.

The Rate card stack uses these gestures, which also update the title’s star rating:

AI recommendations need an embedding provider configured by your administrator.

New playlists are private. Sharing & members manages invitations and access; invited users must accept before a shared playlist appears for them.

Adding a series to a regular playlist expands its currently catalogued episodes. Adding it to Watchlist saves one series entry instead.

Video playback starts at the first unchecked video. Playlist checkmarks are separate from playback resume positions. Video navigation skips music entries; those entries remain visible in the playlist drawer but cannot start there.

To reorder with a keyboard, focus an item’s handle, press Space, use the arrow keys, then press Space again. Collapse a series or season to move its episodes together. The system Watchlist keeps its automatic order and cannot be renamed, shared, or deleted.

Requests ask your administrator to add a title that isn’t available. The request form shows any quota and lets you choose seasons. You’ll receive a notification when the title is playable. Requests require your administrator to enable them and configure Seerr.

Start a party from the player’s Watch party button and share its code or link. A new party is private: only people who have the code or link can join. Choose to list it if you want it to appear in the Watch Parties widget for others on the server. Join through the widget (listed parties) or the shared link.

  • Anyone can pause or resume for everyone.
  • Only the host can seek, skip segments, change speed, or move to another title.
  • The next episode waits at the start until someone presses Play.
  • Leaving as a guest affects only you. Ending as host stops the party for everyone; a party also ends after the host has been gone for about 10 minutes.

On Apple TV, start from a title’s Watch Together button or join by code from the sidebar. Pressing Home keeps the party membership; use Rejoin Party when you return. Pressing Back twice leaves the party, ending it for everyone if you are the host.

Use your phone or the web as a remote for your other devices. Start a title on the TV, pause, seek, pick a track or send a message. You can also allow a household helper to control your devices. See Remote control.

Music’s Smart Queue / Autoplay adds recommendations as the queue runs out. Crossfade is configured in the full-screen player’s settings. For the Mixing Desk, taste stations, and other discovery tools, see Music discovery.

Audiobook search stays within your selected shelf, language, and filters. Continue listening covers all shelves. Live TV search includes all channels and scheduled programmes, even when you’re browsing Favorites. For a larger, simpler Live TV screen with only your own numbered channels, see Live TV simple mode.

If your administrator has added internet radio stations (under Settings → Music → Radio), they appear in the Internet Radio section of the Music page. Choose a station to listen live. A station has no timeline, track skips or crossfade, and the current song or programme appears when the station provides it. Which Lumastra apps offer internet radio varies by version; check the app’s release notes.

Settings → Display → Home & browsing → Show episode languages controls audio and subtitle badges in series episode lists, hover details, and the player’s episode browser. It starts enabled and is saved to your account across browsers. Combined-episode titles remain visible when the badges are hidden.

Movie details and episode rows show compact audio and subtitle badges. The server’s primary metadata language comes first, followed by its additional metadata languages, the title’s original production language, and then other available languages. Hover or focus +N to see the full list; click or tap it to keep the list open. Press Escape or click outside to close it. Narrow screens show fewer badges to leave room for episode information.

Audio/subtitle language, subtitle style, playback automation, and music crossfade settings follow your account across browsers. Playback automation is under Player → Quality → Playback Settings; see Using the video player.

Widget order and visibility (Settings → Home), dock visibility, and stream info visibility are saved per browser. Your administrator can also change the homepage and available widgets for the whole server.

Settings → Privacy controls what other users can see:

SettingEffect
Hide my streamsHides streaming and social activity; overrides the sharing settings below.
Share audiobook activityShares book progress, finished books, and shared listening.
Share coarse listening activityShares books listened to, rounded duration, and day; never exact times.

Everything starts off: a new account hides its streams and shares no listening or audiobook activity until you turn it on here. Accounts that never opened these settings were switched to this private default when the server was upgraded; accounts that saved a choice keep it.

Coarse listening activity is reciprocal: you can see others’ activity only while sharing your own. Your administrator defines the audience, usually everyone on the server or people in the same group.

When audiobook sharing is enabled, hide one book by opening its … menu and clicking the listening-sharing icon. Its tooltip shows whether your progress is visible to others. Reviews are visible only within your Lumastra server.

New episodes and fulfilled requests appear in the notification bell and follow your account across devices. Browser system notifications need permission. Notifications aren’t sent by email.

Link your account under Settings → Connections to optionally sync anime ratings.
